Bold patterns and inviting touches are the keys to a properly styled bathroom.
Lighten Up “Get the biggest return on your visual investment with lighting,” says David Hintgen, owner of DH Interiors in Denver. “One flush-mount fixture is not flattering for anybody.” Instead, he recommends placing a can light directly over the sink and sconces on either side of the mirror.
Go Bolder Powder rooms are the perfect place to have some fun with daring wallpaper patterns and bold paint colors. “Dark colors have gotten a bad rap for being, well, dark–but they really work well in small spaces,” Hintgen says.
Be Artful “Buy and display art you love,” says Denver designer Beth Armijo of Armijo Design Group. “If it’s in the powder room, as opposed to the master bathroom, everyone sees it and can appreciate it.” Not an art enthusiast? No problem: “Use decorative mirrors like art,” says Andrea Schumacher of Andrea Schumacher Interiors. “Don’t settle for built-in mirrors.”
